Thankful Thursday

Today it is my Meowmie's turn to be thankful, she is thankful for the continued purrs and prayers and good thoughts coming our way from all corners of the world from our Blogosphere friends.

Meowmie has decided that she is going to show her thanks by taking part in Race For Life on June 1st, it is a 5km (3 mile) run around the City of London. She is going to raise funds for Jane's Appeal - a charity set up by the incredible Jane Tomlinson who was a Fighter, and from whom I take my inspiration!

Jane's Appeal raises funds for cancer care, support and research, acute paediatric care, children's hospices and other children's charities. Meowmie is a beginner runner so 5km will feel like a long way for her! She could do with some exercise and shedding a few pounds too anyway...

If you want to sponsor Meowmie you can do so online through our Just Giving page - please click the button below. We would be so so very grateful and thankful for your kind support.

Meowmie is also thankful because there has been a slight improvement...We don't want to get too excited, because this illness is so up and down and I am still far from 100%, but yesterday evening I was slightly brighter in myself, not much, but enough to notice the difference...and after days of not eating I actually ate a little food last night! Meowmie tried to tempt me with a chicken terrine, and then some ham and I showed interest in the tins and packets being opened but I did not want to eat those. It was a different story when she opened the tuna flakes in gravy though, and I tucked right in and ate about 1/3 of the can and about 1 hour later ate another 1/3 of the can. It was just a small can of food, but it is a start.

I woke Meowmie up this morning at 5.30am with some very deep, moany meezer noises. She took me to the kitchen and offered me some chicken flakes in gravy and I ate it - just a small amount, but still, better than nothing! I then stopped moaning. I ate a small amount again at 8am too, mostly licking off the gravy from the flakes though. I then became a little quiet again and retired to my cushion.

I'm still fighting!!!

Love Stormie

Storm, we are very glad that you are eating a bit! :) That is a great cause that your mom is supporting by running the 5K. :) Our humans do a lot of runs for charity too. Back in Canada they would always do the Terry Fox Run and the Relay for Life (both for cancer) as well as other charity runs.

We are continuing to purr and pray for you.

Good luck to your mom! If she needs any running advice, let us know. :) Our humans have run 8 half-marathons and 2 marathons together, and our dad has run one marathon on his own. They are now training for the Dublin marathon in the Fall. :)

Oh Stormie! We just read yesterdays post...We are sorry that you are feeling less than wonderful, but we are glad you have perked up a bit. We hope you can find some food that is so yummy you devour it everytime it is brought out!

We are purring and purraying for you!

Kudos to your Mom for doing the run. Tell her not to feel bad if she needs to walk some of it! Meowm has done one of those and she had to walk some of it.

You were moaning from hunger? Oh dear Storm! But I am glad that your moaning worked in your favor and she was astute enough to get you some good food.

Wow, your mom is really amazing to do this!! My Meowmy would most likely pass out after oh....1/4 of a mile. We donated to the cause! It was also a great learning experience of exactly how worthless the US dollar is right now.

Good luck with the 5k run! Has your Meowmie heard of the "From couch to 5k" training schedule? It looks very do-able. I'm so glad you have been eating, making meezer noises for food is an excellent sign xx

PS: Not suggesting that your Meowmie is a couch potato btw! It just looks like an easier schedule!

Stormie, I haf been thinking of you and purraying that you would start to feel a bit brighter. Please continue to eat when you can and gain more strength. My Miewmie used to work in the field of human lymphoma so although its not the same, she understands something of your pwoblems. Also, she is furry impressed that your mummy is doing race for life !! Well done. My miewmie did the London Marathon twice but that was like hundreds of years ago when she was young !!

Hi Storm! We're still purraying and purring for you. Aunt Jen just finished her last bag of chemo tonight. She had it 24/7 for a week and she feels pretty rotten, too. :( But like Momma says, "Let's kick cancer to the curb." We're pulling for you.

Oh Stormie, I'm so pleased that you're eating a bit now! :) I shall continue to purr for you and hope that your Mummy raises lots and lots of money for this wonderful cause! We've done quite a bit for the Macmillan Nurses ourselves as they helped Dad's Dad last year right to the end... Cancer is beastly in all it's forms and I so wish I could "bop" it into remission for you! I'd really give it the bestest bopping ever! :)
