Where is Summer?

I need to bask in the sunshine! Where has summer gone please? I got an hour or two in this morning on the rug in the sitting room where the sun streams through the window, but that was about it - it almost feels like the radiators should be on! At least I have Castle to cuddle up to when it gets a bit nippy.

I did a tummy-sick-up again today, and a little sick-up the night before last at 2am. If it happens again anytime soon Meowmie will have me up the Vet Place quicker than you can say "Ouch! Get your claws out of my skin!"

Meowmie was a bit worried today so she did what she usually does when I do a sick-up or my appetite slows down - she buys me a whole rotisserie CHICKEN from Waitrose. I have already shared one chicken breast with my bro, and I know there is one still left...Meowmie had the horrid leg meat. She must love me lots. Maybe if I sick-up a bit more Meowmie will buy me more chicken? Hmmmm....it's like Bulimia but in reverse.

There was a red sky at night tonight - that means Shepherd's Delight - I heard Meowmie say it as she gazed out the window. What does it mean? Does it mean the Shepherd will be able to round his sheep up easily? I can't see many sheep from my window to be honest, or shepherds. Here is the view from my kitchen window, looking from East to West across London:

Hi Storm,

I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. It sounds like a long, tough haul. I hope you have escaped!

When Buddy got nauseous & threw up a lot from kidney problems we started giving her 1/4 of a 10 mg Pepcid twice a day. That really helped her keep eating-for years. I don't know if your problem is similar.

I am suspicious that some of Buddy's kidney problems were caused by a supposedly healthy "alternative" food marked "human grade", that turned out to be manufactured at Menu Foods. I wonder how many years they were adulterating the stuff? Anyway, we changed foods a little over a year ago, and this spring her blood tests showed her kidney function had improved dramatically, which doesn't normally happen. Hmmm. I'm starting to think that maybe cats should be eating things like chicken breasts or stuff their owners make so we know the ingredients.

I have heard of the red sky thing, except I heard it as:

Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailors delight.

I heard it was a way of predicting storms (like you!) and calm weather.

Best wishes,
Laura

Thanks Nezbine - I think I am OK for now, but it will come back and get me eventually cos chemo isn't a cure for kitties, it just kind of holds things back.

I tried the Zantac medicine, which is like Pepcid but I threw up alot with it - with a bit of luck I am about to be weened off steroids so hopefully I won't be needing anti-acids, but if I do I'm gonna ask for Pepcid.

Hugs to you and so sorry about Buddy...i'll send him purrs over at the Bridge xxx

Hey, Storm, and thanks for checking out our blog.

To try to answer your question(s), so far as we know, most of the food problems were limited to the US, and we didn't see any of your foods on the recall lists, so you (probably) are fine. If you want to check for yourself, there are lists here and here. This blog also has recall lists and current information.

Most of this information is aimed primarily at the US. Maybe someone else can give you some UK-related links.

I am very sorry that you had more sick-ups. I hope the chicken helps. At least it tastes really good going down. I think the shepher's delight bit means that there will be no storms the next day. I hope that means you will get lots of sunshine.

Our momma has to take the pepcid and it makes her do the sickups too. We don't do sick ups, cause we figure one being at a time should be ruining the floors.

Hi Storm,
I hope you are feeling better. That chicken certainly should help. When my Mommy had lymphoma
she did the sick-ups too. She had a sore throat, was tired, lost some hair and felt lousy. The doctors gave her mediine that helped. Have yur mommy contact her for more info.
She is okay now. Thanks for asking.
The view of London out your window is beautiful.
