Unexpected Vet Visit

Oh dear, what a morning! Meowmie was just about to leave for work and she noticed me hopping back and forth between my litter-tray and my bed under the radiator. I was trying to do a wee-wee but nothing was coming out, I was also trying to do a poo and that eventually came out after which I immediately tummy-sick-upped my recently devoured breakfast!

It was just my usual constipation/lack of motility problem on the poo/breakfast expulsion - however, i continued to visit and revisit my tray trying to urinate but nothing was coming out. So meowmie called the vet and he said to bring me in...Ben Vet wasn't in today so I saw a new vat called Charlie Vet, he was nice but I missed Ben Vet cos he knows me well. I did headbutt Charlie Vet though, to welcome him to the practise cos he is new.

Anyways, everything was normal, ise gained a bit of weight, temperature OK, no suspicious lumps or anything, so they think I may have...Cystitis!!! How I got that I don't know! It can be stress-related but nothing is stressing me out apart from getting lactulose syringed down my throat twice a day! The vet said that because I am on a steroid my immune system is suppressed so I am more prone to getting things like this now. Anyhow, I had a shot of anti-biotics and some pain-relief and now I'm on anti-bitoics for the next 5 days. I really hope they work cos if they don't then it means there is something else wrong with me, possibly in my urinary tract and then I will have to go in for a day, or long enough to allow Ben vet to get a sterile sample of my urine...i fink this may involve a tube inserted into me :(

Ise swear Ise not doing this on purpose- or putting it on - cos I heard her say 'cat-sitter' the other day too!

Poor Storm, potty-problems are No Fun! I had a similar problem back in January and after several rounds of antibiotics it turned out I had ROCKS in my bladder (my Mommie says they were oxalate crystals) that they had to cut out of me. But I am all better now. Except I have a poochie belly.

I am glad that you have gained a little weight. That is very good of you.

Oh, I so hope the anti-biotic works 'cause I don't want them to insert a tube into you - no way!

I hope very much you will be well with the anti-biotics!!! I am sure there is nothing seriously wrong with you - it's the stress induced by the word cat-sitter. Perfectly normal, we would all have the same reaction, I think.
I know you know about the dare already but I wanted to dare everybody personally, so here it goes:
I Dare You!
Yes, It is ME, Anastasia! Karl was thoughtful enough to put the Dare out on the Day of the Dead, so I can come personally! And if you don't accept the challenge, I might just come again and haunt you, Hahahahahahahahaha!

Does your cat food have lots of fish in it? Bean find a relationship between Cystitis and fish in foods when one of her old cats have this. As long as she eat beef or poultry, she was fine, but if she eat anything with fish she get stopped up again. Maybe you should consider this if you have fishy foods all the time.

Ouch. Urinary tract problems are no fun. We all hope you're feeling better by now.

I hope your urinary tract will get all better with the shot you received!

Mommie puts my lactulose in my foods, because when she was squirting it in it was making my furs all sticky and then I got very sad about that. Maybe you could try it in your squishy foods. Mommie makes me eat up on the counter so Prinnie does not eat my foods (she can't climb anymore, she is too ricketty)

We love you Stormie.

Vet visits are no fun, I hope you get well soon. And believe me, you would better have a cat-sitter than having to travel with the servants. This weekend I will be suffereing 4 hours in the car because the servants won't let me stay home alone for two nights!
